Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

Markel Brown has been diagnosed with a mild MCL sprain in his right knee, the Brooklyn Nets announced Friday afternoon. Brown was injured on January 2 in his NBA D-League debut and it was initially called a bruised knee, the Nets announced following the game. The team said that Brown will be re-evaulated next week by team doctors.

The Brown injury looked pretty gruesome initially.

Brown and fellow rookie Cory Jefferson were recalled from Maine by the Nets on Thursday.
