Was told Nets + OKC recently talked involving Lopez, K. Perkins (expiring deal), P. Jones, L. Thomas but stood pat liking how they've played— Ohm Youngmisuk (@NotoriousOHM) January 6, 2015
Brook Lopez is averaging 20.7 ppg and 8.2 rebounds in last four games. Nets had won 6-of-7 before losing last two close games— Ohm Youngmisuk (@NotoriousOHM) January 6, 2015
A league source confirmed to NetsDaily that the two sides spoke but no "firm offers" were made. Of the three players reported to have been offered, Perry Jones III is the only intriguing player. The seven-footer has filled in for Kevin Durant this season, averaging 7.8 points on 46% shooting, including 28.2% from three. He's still on his rookie contract. Kendrick Perkins, now 30, is averaging only 4.2 points and 5.8 rebounds. He is an expiring contract, being paid $6.54 million. Lance Thomas, a little used defensive specialist, is on a vets minimum deal that expires in July. He was sent to the Knicks this evening in the three-team deal that sent J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert to Cleveland and Dion Waiters to OKC.
Such a trade would have permitted the Nets to cut salary and luxury taxes this season and get them close to the luxury tax threshold.
