The Fort Wayne Mad Ants will be the Nets' D-League affiliate this season as will 13 other NBA teams. The Nets hybrid affiliation with the Springfield Armor ended after last season. The Armor franchise, along with its D-League player rights and draft picks (including two of the top five in this November's draft), were sold to group of businessmen in Grand Rapids who are moving the franchise to the Michigan city. There, it will be the Pistons affiliate.
Of the 17 D-League teams, all but the Mad Ants have NBA affiliations. So the remaining 14 NBA teams must share an affiliation with Fort Wayne.
As part of the affiliation, the D-League team is looking for local prospects who feel they can play at the next level. On September 20, the Mad Ants will be at the Nets practice facility in East Rutherford hosting an open workout for an interested players.
Here is the press release.
