The agent for Jorge Gutierrez confirmed that the Nets point guard will play for the Brooklyn team in the Orlando Summer League this July, the first confirmed player on this year's roster. His agent told D-League Digest that Gutierrez "will play Summer League with the Nets, and play for his National team at the World’s if his schedule permits it."
The summer league is a week-long event at the Magic training facility in Orlando the second week in July while the FIBA World Championship begins at the end of August and runs for two weeks, August 31 - September 14. Roster players usually start gathering at NBA training camps for informal workouts and practices in early September with training camp starting October 1.
Beyond Gutierrez, the Nets summer league is expected to include Marquis Teague, Mason Plumlee and whoever the Nets draft on June 26. The Nets are holding a three or four-day workout at the PNY Center starting June 2, with the expectation that some players from that group will also get summer league invitations. The list of those invited has yet to be released.
