Mikhail Prokhorov releases statement on Nets' 2013-14 season

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

Brooklyn Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov has released an official statement on the end of the team's 2013-14 season, after losing on Wednesday night to the Miami Heat, 96-94.

It's short and sweet, but, it's something:

BROOKLYN, NY – I'd like to thank Nets management and players for all their efforts over the course of this crazy season. Despite roster changes, injuries and a difficult start, you clawed us back into contention. It made for a thrilling spring. And to the fans, thank you for your support through thick and thin. Next season, we pick up right where we left off!

Prokhorov was present for most of the 2013-14 playoffs, sitting in his mid-court suite. Of course spending $196 million on a roster that was ousted in the second round of the playoffs won't go over well, so certainly some roster changes are expected this summer. It's not Mr. Prokhorov's "thing" to sit idly, even if the team doesn't have all that much flexibility.
