Jorge Gutierrez hopes to stick with the Nets through season's end

Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

Jorge Gutierrez didn't play Friday night in Boston, but he was in uniform wearing No. 13 and he told Andy Vasquez he hopes to stay for the rest of the season.

The Nets signed the 6'3" Cal product on Thursday after calling him up from the Canton Charge That means he'll be around at least through March 16. At that point, the Nets can dump him or give him another 10-day which would take him to near the end of March and Game 70. Should they then sign him for the rest of the year, they can also offer a team option for next season, on either a guaranteed, partially guaranteed or non-guaranteed basis.

"Just help the team win," the 25-year-old said of his role. "That’s what I’m here for. I’m all about the team, and hopefully get some more experience and stay here for the rest of the year." - See more at: http://www.northjersey.com/sports/249101741_Nets_notes__Garnett_out.html?page=all#sthash.fKiAdxg6.dpuf

Gutierrez, the PAC-10 Player of the Year in 2012, was among the last camp invites cut by the Nets. The other two are also on NBA rosters: Chris Johnson recently signed for the rest of the year with the Celtics and Adonis Thomas is on his second 10-day deal with the Hawks.

He added that his time in Nets camp should be an advantage for him.

"I’ve been around. It’s a great group of guys, and I’m excited."
