Tony Parker ruled out against Nets tomorrow; Tim Duncan also likely out

Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

Before the Spurs could take on the Nets on Thursday night in Brooklyn, they had to get through the Wizards first. San Antonio did, winning 125-118, but at a price. The game went into double overtime and Tony Parker left the game after nearly 19 minutes of action due to back tightness.

Parker's injury only adds to the Spurs long list of injuries at the moment; the team has lost Kawhi Leonard to a broken finger in his right hand, and Manu Ginobili to a strained left hamstring. They recently had Tiago Splitter and Danny Green return to the lineup from their respective injuries.

Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News summed up the Spurs' injury situation in one tweet:

After the double overtime victory, Spurs' coach Greg Popovich joked about Tim Duncan's status for the team's game against the Nets.

Duncan played 40 minutes tonight before fouling out of the game. Popovich has been very strict on Duncan's minutes for the past couple of seasons and logical thinking is that Duncan will sit out the game in Brooklyn tomorrow night.

This Spurs team will likely look much different than the team that throttled the Nets 113-92 on New Year's Eve.
