Eastern Conference scout on Deron Williams: 'I think his best days are behind him'

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Chris Broussard of ESPN spoke with several Western Conference and Eastern Conference scouts to get their takes on who the most overrated and underrated players in the NBA are. Among the list of overrated players were Ricky Rubio, Kyrie Irving, Rajon Rondo and Deron Williams, to name a few.

On Williams, on Eastern Conference scout said:

"I think his best days are behind him. I've watched him the last two years, and this is not the D-Will I remember in Utah, who I thought was maybe the best point guard in the NBA. I actually think Shaun Livingston is running the team better than Williams is right now. Maybe when Deron gets healthy, he'll get it back. But he's been playing this way for the last two years. I don't think he'll ever be the player he used to be."

Williams is averaging 14 points and 6.5 assists in 39 games this season, having dealt with various ankle injuries. He is signed with the Nets for the next three seasons after this one at just north of $60 million.

Among the most underrated were Goran Dragic, Mike Conley, Marc Gasol and Lance Stephenson.
