With the Nets reportedly signing Jason Collins to a 10-day contract today, this still leaves open one more roster spot, to which it is thought to go to another big man.
RealGM is reporting that, according to league sources, the Nets are in the mix to sign big man Ivan Johnson, who played with the Atlanta Hawks last season and most recently with Zhejiang in China. Through 24 games, Johnson averaged 26 points, 9.9 rebounds and over two steals per game.
However, RealGM notes that the Clippers are also looking at signing Johnson, who is 29 years old.
Even after upcoming signings in the frontcourt, the Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets remain possible suitors for Ivan Johnson, league sources told RealGM.
Johnson has been in dialogue with other interested NBA teams, too, and has recently worked out for several organizations. No frontrunner has emerged. The Clippers had been a finalist for Johnson in free agency last offseason.
Collins will make his season debut tonight against the Lakers.
