Deron Williams OUT tonight against the Hawks

BROOKLYN - Jason Kidd announced that Deron Williams (ankle) will not play tonight against the Atlanta Hawks.

Deron Williams is out tonight with an ankle sprain. There was an MRI but Kidd said he doesn't know the results.

Kidd said Deron has been diagnosed with a sprained left ankle. He'll be reevaluated tomorrow. 3rd sprained L ankle for Williams in 2 months.

This will be the 12th game Williams has missed with sprained left ankle. He missed 6 of team's 7 preseason games w right ankle sprain.

As noted, Alan Anderson will start in place of Williams. Again, Kidd said they are being "cautious" with Williams' ankles after it "swelled up" last night. Williams did say that he "wanted to play," but Kidd made it clear that the team did not want to risk it.

Update: Yes, the Nets have recalled Tyshawn Taylor from Springfield, after re-assigning him there earlier in the day.
