Nets send Tyshawn Taylor and Tornike Shengelia down to D-League

Nets' GM Billy King announced today that the team has sent Tyshawn Taylor and Tornike Shengelia down to the D-League to join the Springfield Armor this week.

From the release:

In 15 games this season, Shengelia is averaging 1.4 points and 0.9 rebounds in 8.4 minutes per game. Taylor has played in 20 games (three starts) this season, averaging 4.3 points and 1.8 assists in 12.7 minutes per game.

In two D-League games this season, Shengelia is averaging 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while Taylor holds averages of 9.0 points and 4.0 assists.

Springfield plays on Wednesday in Reno against the Bighorns at the D-League showcase. The Showcase is the most heavily scouted D-League event with many NBA GM's and scouts on hand. The timing of the Nets move could suggest the two are being, well, "showcased" around the league.

Under the new CBA, there is no limit on the number of times a play can be shuttled back and forth to the D-League.
