ESPN's David Thorpe puts Teletovic on his list of top sophs

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The Nets are hoping Mirza Teletovic makes it to New Orleans, for the three-point shootout as well as the Rising Stars Challenge where rookies and sophomores, no matter what the age or overseas experience, face off.

His qualifications for the three point shootout are evident in the three point percentage numbers.  At 42.2 percent, he's one of the NBA's top three point shooters. And he's rising among the league's second year players as well.

David Thorpe, in fact, ranks Teletovic at the 12th best performing soph, ahead of three of the top five picks in the 2012 draft: Bradley Beal, Dion Waiters and Thomas Robinson as well as Harrison Barnes, who's tailed off this season after a solid first year.  Not far above Teletovic is Mason's brother Miles Plumlee.

It won't be easy. Only 18 players total will be selected for the game. The game will be played February 14.
