Great day for Euro-Nets ends with Bojan Bogdanovic leading Croatia to overtime win

B. Petrinovic/Crobasket

After Mirza Teletovic scored 22 points and sealed Bosnia's upset of Macedonia, and Joe Prunty led Great Britain to another improbable win over Germany, Bojan Bogdanovic topped off the day for the Euro-Nets by scoring 24 to lead Croatia to an upset win over Slovenia, the Eurobasket hosts.

Bogdanovic started out fast and then when Croatia needed him late in the closely fought contest, he came through. After being down 13 in the third Croatia came all the way back, with Bogdanovic supplying the go-ahead shot. The 6'8" swingman hit a three-pointer with 1:32 left in regulation to give Croatia the lead, 65-64. After the game went into overtime, he did it again, hitting a three pointer to give Croatia a five point lead it never relinquished, winning 76-74. He almost became the goat late in overtime when Boki Nachbar of Slovenia stole the ball and fed Goran Dragic for a lay-up, bringing the Slovenes within two, but Croatia held on.

Bogdanovic finished 9-of-21, including 2-of-5 from three. He added seven rebounds, an assist, a steal and two blocks. Ante Tomic, the 7'1" Croatian center whose rights are held by Utah, had 11 points and 15 rebounds. Dragic, the only current NBA player in the game, finished with 23, 8 and 5.

Croatia is now 3-1 with a game Monday vs. Czech Republic in which they'll be favored. If they win, theFIBA EuroBasket 2013 - Teletovic & Bogdanovicy will move on to the second round which begins Tuesday.
