Want to try out for the Armor? $150 gets you the chance

Brooklyn Nets

The Springfield Armor  will hold open player tryouts on September 28 in New Jersey and on October 20 in Springfield leading into the 2013-14 NBA Development League season.  Anyone interested in trying out only need to send $150 to the Armor offices.  Details below.

The New Jersey tryout will take place at the Nets’ training center, the PNY Center. Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. with the tryout set to begin at 9:00 a.m.

The Springfield tryout will take place at the Springfield College Field House, 263 Alden Street, Springfield, Mass. Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. with the tryout set to begin at 9:00 a.m.

Open tryouts offer players an opportunity to showcase their talents in front of Armor coaches and front office personnel while they compete to earn an invitation to the team's training camp in November. The Armor have had nine players appear in a regular season game after making the team through local player tryouts in three seasons.

The Armor will be led this season by Doug Overton, who spent the previous five years as an assistant coach and player development coach with the Nets, and assistant coach Chris Carrawell, who returns to Springfield for his third season with the Armor.

Interested players should submit completed registration and release forms along with a $150 non-refundable participation fee to the Armor office (One Monarch Place, Suite 220, Springfield, MA 01144). Late registration is $200 for all forms received after Tuesday, Sept. 24 (for the New Jersey tryout) and Tuesday, Oct. 15 (for the Springfield tryout).

Call the Armor office (413-746-3263), visit armorhoops.com or email armor@armorhoops.com with the subject line ‘Player Tryout’ for all required forms and additional information.
