The season, or at least the pre-season, is finally upon us. Within a week, Nets players will gather at Barclays Center for Media Day, then fly off to Durham, NC, for training camp. Five of the seven Nets pre-season games will be televised, two nationally. There's also Jason Kidd's retirement ceremony on October 17, then another special event early in February.

September 30 - Media Day at Barclays Center. Expect huge throng of worldwide media as Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Jason Terry, Andrei Kirilenko, Shaun Livingston, Alan Anderson and Mason Plumlee all don Nets gear for the first time.

October 1 - 5 - Training camp opens at Mike Krzyzewski Center, Duke University. The Nets will fly out of New York after Media Day. To build chemistry, Billy King wanted to spend the first week of camp away from the distractions of New York.

October 5 - Fenerbahce Ulker will play the Oklahoma City Thunder in Istanbul. With game on NBA TV, fans will get a chance to see Bojan Bogdanovic vs.NBA competition and specifically Kevin Durant.

October 8 - Nets open preseason vs. the Wizards in Washington. YES will televise.

October 12 - Nets host preseason game vs. Pistons at Barclays Center. No TV.

October 14 - Nets play preseason game vs. 76ers in Philadelphia. No TV

October 15 - Nets host preseason game vs. Celtics at Barclays Center. YES will televise

October 17 - Nets host preseason game vs. Heat at Barclays Center. Jason Kidd's No. 5 is retired. The game will be nationally televised on TNT and YES.

October 23 - Nets play preseason game vs. Celtics in Boston. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN but Paul Pierce has said he's unlikely to travel, leaving the drama for regular season. YES will televise as well.

October 25 - Nets conclude preseason play with a road game vs. the Heat in Miami. YES will televise.

October 28 - Rosters set for Opening Day (5 p.m. ET)

October 30 - Nets tip off season on the road in Cleveland vs. Cavaliers.

November 1 - Nets host the Heat at Barclays Center to open their second season in Brooklyn. ESPN will televise.

December 15 - Free agents signed in the off-season can now be traded.

January 6 - 10-day Contracts can now be signed.

January 10 - All Contracts are guaranteed for remainder of the season.

January 16 - NBA Global Games London 2014 - Atlanta Hawks vs. Brooklyn Nets at The 02.

February 6 - 10th anniversary of NetsDaily. (We'll figure something out.)

February 14-16 - 2014 NBA All-Star Game, New Orleans, LA

February 20 -- 2014 NBA Trade Deadline (3 p.m. ET)
