It's all about Deron Williams Thursday: the ankle injury, the Dodge Barrage and an interview with Yahoo! Sports in which he says the Nets have a chance for a championship and that he expects to learn from his coach and his new teammates, all of whom have a title already.
"We have a lot of work to do -- we haven’t even played a preseason game yet," Williams told Yahoo. "But that’s our ultimate goal, to win a championship, and we feel like if, down the line, everything happens right, we have a chance."
D-Will admitted he didn't feel that way last season. "It’s great to feel like you can win a title, you can compete for a title, going into the season," Williams tells Yahoo's ThePostGame. "It’s been a while since I really felt like that."
He also spoke about what he hopes to learn both from Jason Kidd and his three new teammates, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry.
Of the players, he said, " Everything. I’m looking forward to playing with them, getting to know them and just learning from them. They’re three guys that all have a championship. I’m excited to learn about leadership about just being a professional."
