New York's first annual Dodge Barrage Tournament, hosted by none other than Deron Williams, will take place Thursday at Basketball City in Lower Manhattan, starting at 12 noon. The dodge ball tournament will feature several celebrity-led teams vying to win the championship, then be followed by a VIP Barbecue.
All proceeds will go to "The Point of Hope Foundation," a non-profit organization that was started by Williams. The foundation creates opportunities to help raise funds that can directly impact the lives of children in need. Williams first began hosting the Dodge Barrage in Salt Lake City before being traded to the Nets.
Several Nets, along with other celebs will be on hand to support their starting point guard in his pursuit of a dodge ball championship, either by playing, commentating or just watching. Among them Nets players Kevin Garnett, Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce, Mason Plumlee, Alan Anderson, Shaun Livingston, Andray Blatche and Tyshawn Taylor. As well, head coach Jason Kidd will be in attendance. Among the other celebrities: Justin Tuck and Jay Pharoah.
Tickets start at $500 to watch, $800 to participate. Here's hoping everyone involved has fun, helps a great cause and no one gets hurt!
