Five of Nets preseason games will be televised, two nationally

USA TODAY Sports

Two of the Nets preseason games will be televised nationally and five will be televised locally, a record, but two of the games --at home vs. the Pistons on October 12 vs. the 76ers on the road on October 14-- will not be available.

TNT will carry the October 17 game vs. the Heat, at which Jason Kidd's jersey will be retired, and October 23, at Boston. Paul Pierce has said he will probably not play in the game. No word on Kevin Garnett or Jason Terry. The YES Network will televise five Nets pre-season games this fall, the most the network has ever televised.

Neither the 76ers game nor the Pistons game will be televised locally in either of the teams' home cities.

The Nets pre-season schedule:

Tuesday, October 8, 7 pm – at Washington (YES)

Tuesday, October 15, 7:30 pm – Boston (YES)

Thursday, October 17, 8:00 pm – Miami (YES and TNT)

Wednesday, October 23, 7:00 pm – at Boston (YES and TNT)

Friday, October 25, 7:30 pm – at Miami (YES)

In another game of interest to Nets fans, on Saturday, October 5, Oklahoma City will play Fenerbahce Ulker of Turkey, featuring the Nets 2011 draft pick, Bojan Bogdanovic, in Istanbul.

Last season, Nets games on YES averaged a .92 TV Household rating, a 130% increase from the .40 TV Household rating it averaged during the 2011-12 season. Last year's preseason opener vs. the Wizards set a YES ratings record for a preseason game..
