Despite calls, Nets hanging on to Teletovic, Bogdanovic

Sean Deveney of The Sporting News, in doing a round-up of recent action at FIBA tournaments in the Americas and Europe, discusses the Nets "pleasant problem:" the emergence of Mirza Teletovic and Bojan Bogdanovic "two of the better players on the European circuit at this time."

Deveney describes how Teletovic ranks as the No. 2 scorer in FIBA Eurobasket and Bogdanovic also in the top ten, noting they are "in high demand" among NBA general managers. Then he quotes an NBA GM this way: "The Nets don’t seem to have any interest in getting rid of either guy. Plenty of teams have asked, but they are not moving them, not right now."

According to several league sources, Teletovic received the most interest of any Net at the trade deadline.  (At the time, Fred Kerber tweeted that the Celtics wanted the Bosnian power forward as part of a package for Paul Pierce.)

Deveney describes their summer this way...

"Both players have proven their worth in Eurobasket. Teletovic, who is 28 years old, carries a heavy load for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and his shooting percentage—38.6 from the field—reflects that. But he is second in the tournament with 21.0 points per game, and averages 7.8 rebounds. Bogdanovic, who is 24 and had hoped to sign this summer, is ninth in scoring (16.7 points) in the European tournament."

THe Nets await word on how long of a deal Bogdanovic will sign with Fenerbahce before Euroleague begins while Teletovic is expected to join his teammates "soon" at the PNY Center.
