ESPN is reporting that the Nets - Celtics deal will have to wait another two days before it's official. Originally, the trade was to done on July 10. Now, it will be July 12 because of an issue with Kris Joseph's contract.
The Nets' inclusion of April signee Kris Joseph in the trade means that Brooklyn and Boston have to wait until July 12, as opposed to July 10, because Joseph can't be traded until after three months have elapsed from the day he signed with the Nets as a free agent.
Initially, the Nets included Toko Shengelia in the deal, then Joseph replaced him. Shengelia has a fully guaranteed contract next season. Joseph can be released before August 1 without any guarantee.
