There's no real surprise here as Chad Ford's NBA Mock Draft 7.0 -- which, aside from a handful of daily updates, is going to be his final mock before tonight's Draft -- has the Brooklyn Nets selecting Louisville big man Gorgui Dieng at No. 22.
Dieng was in on Tuesday to workout for the Nets in their final pre-draft workout. And as we've noted several times here on NetsDaily, Dieng is a NBA-ready big who has a great defensive presence and who can step in off the bench and help the team "right away."
Here's what Ford has to say about the pick:
Analysis: Dieng has slid in the draft thanks to concerns about his knees, but a number of teams in the 20s still seem willing to take the risk. With Minnesota in serious talks to swap this pick for the Nets' MarShon Brooks, I could see the Nets grabbing another big to fill out their front line.
Yes, his knees have been a concern, but as Ford notes, not enough to where it will scare teams off from taking him in the mid- to late-20s.
Ford mentions the MarShon Brooks to Minnesota swap, which would likely include the 26th pick in tonight's draft. At that slot he has the Timberwolves taking Allen Crabbe. Also still available, according to his mock, are Tony Snell, Ricky Ledo and Rudy Gobert.
