Off-Season summaries look at stats, videos ... and hand out grades

Ben Couch, the Nets in-house beat, and Devin Kharpertian of The Brooklyn Game offer two different looks at the season past. Couch looks at a series of stats, both offense and defense, through the prism of NBA.com's more advanced data ... and some graphics. Kharpertian grades all the Nets, from Brook Lopez to Kris Humphries and all points in-between. using a lot of video from YES to illustrate his points. (We should also note Tim Bontemps is doing the same, working his way through the roster alphabetically, just finishing his Damion James entry.)

Couch looks at both team data and individual players --both rotation players and bench mob--- and finds some fun facts, like Mirza Teletovic shot 58.1 percent from mid-range, which as he notes, "is 18 percent better than league average" and "defensively, the Nets ranked No. 20 (.604) in the restricted area and No. 29 in the paint (.419)."

Of "A" student Lopez, Kharpertian writes, "After all the questions about his contract, about if he could stay healthy for a full season, about whether or not the Nets made a colossal mistake making him their third-highest paid player, Lopez developed into one of the franchise's cornerstones and a symbol of their success."

(Kharpertian also lists Lopez at 7'2", which is two inches taller than the Nets' official figure and an inch and a half taller than his Pre-Draft Combine number in 2008. When we told him recently that there's a debate on NetsDaily as to his real height, Lopez was non-committal, saying only, "a debate ... wow!" Based on that we're going with 7'2" as well.)
