Carleton Scott, who played his high school ball in Texas, was the leading scorer for Springfield (18-31) Wednesday night as the Armor traveled to the Lone Star State for their last three games. They lost to the Austin Toros in another close one. On Friday and Saturday, they end the season with a back-to-back against the Texas Legends in Frisco.
The loss officially eliminated the Armor from the playoffs and was the latest in a string of fourth quarter collapses for Springfield. Since Joseph was called up by the Nets, the Armor have struggled to find their rhythm late in games.
Scott, the Notre Dame product put up 20 points and pulled down five rebounds on the night. Dennis Horner finished the game with a double-double at 18 points, 10 rebounds and Dominique Jones totaled 17 points, and five rebounds, while dishing out four assists. Jones was playing in Texas for the first time since being cut last month by the Mavericks. With Kris Joseph, Tyshawn Taylor and Toko Shengelia with the Nets, Jones is the Armor's high scorer, at 16.3 ppg.
Willie Reed, who's still hoping for a call-up, finished with 10 points and seven boards.
