Kris Joseph is a Net. Billy King announced Tuesday that the 6'7" swingman has been signed to a 10-day contract, filling the 15th and final roster spot. It has been open since December when Josh Childress was waived. It was briefly filled by Damion James who also signed a 10-day contract. The Nets will have the option in 10 days to sign Joseph for the rest of the season. He is eligible for the playoffs and will wear No. 24.
Joseph is the fifth call-up in Springfield Armor history. In 27 combined games for Springfield and Maine this season, Joseph averaged 18.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.7 steals in 34.0 minutes per game. Acquired from Maine on February 11, 2013, Joseph has started 15 games for the Armor, averaging 19.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.7 steals in 34.1 minutes per game.
A Canadian citizen --the Nets now have three players with foreign passports-- Joseph was drafted by the Celtics at #51 in June, three spots ahead of Tornike Shengelia. He played 24 minutes in six games for the Celtics, scoring seven points. Joseph is a cousin of Cory Joseph, the Spurs point guard. The Nets now have four rookies on the roster, the most in four years.
