Opening Night of playoffs will be a "celebration of Brooklyn" says Brett Yormark

USA TODAY Sports

Appearing on Good Day New York with Greg Kelly and (his future sister-in-law) Rosanna Scotto, Brett Yormark revealed what everyone had expected. The Nets are carrying the "Brooklyn Blackout" theme to its ultimate and logical conclusion: The Nets will wear black at home for Saturday's game. Could help: the Nets did have their best road record ever in their black uniforms.

Noting that the "whole black scheme" has helped the Nets move from 31st (behind the Supersonics) to fourth this season, Yormark complimented outgoing minority owner Jay-Z with authorship of the "black-and-white color palette." Jay-Z is credited with pushing the colors in discussions with the NBA, which had never before permitted a true black-and-white (no gray) team color scheme.

Yormark also told the two that the opening night theme will be "a celebration of Brooklyn," noting that it's been not just five years without a post-season for the Nets, but 56 years without a post-season for the Dodgers. And yes, he showed up the black-and-white food and drink scheme on live television. We'll wait to decide on that.
