How much to take away from Brett Yormark's refusal to endorse the job P.J. Carlesimo has done this season as interim coach? When Mitch Abramson of the Daily News asked the CEO of the Nets and Barclays for an appraisal of Carlesimo's job, he politely declined.
"I don’t want- that’s not my thing. I defer that to the owners," he said.
Stefan Bondy points out what Yormark famously tweeted after the Nets Christmas Day debacle vs. Boston, "The entire organization needs to work harder to find the solution," implying that it was a diss of Avery Johnson. Johnson apparently thought so. He called Yormark.
But is this a diss by Yormark or just him keeping his distance? Under Mikhail Prokhorov, the basketball and business sides have been kept mostly separate. Crossing over that boundary is generally frowned upon, at least in public.
