When Stefan Bondy caught up with Andray Blatche last week, the headline for Nets fans was that money won't be the key to his next contract. Instead, he talked about minutes and opportunities. After all, he admits, he has a "unique situation," that is he has $16.3 million in amnesty payments still due from the Wizards.
But it was another line from the Bondy story that caught the attention of Washington reporters and others. Blatche hinted that he would sign for less money so that the Wizards don't get off easy.
"If I get a lot (in my next contract), yeah, it’s going to take pressure off the Wizards," he said. "But that’s why I’m not going to do that."
Reaction, as you would expect, was varied.
- Andray Blatche still mad at the Wizards - Sarah Kogod - Washington Post
- Andray Blatche would take less money to make the Wizards pay more - Trey Kerby - The Basketball Jones
