It should be a fun night Monday at the Springfield YMCA, the Armor's practice site. Willie Reed will be accepting congratulations for being named D-League Performer of the Week; Toko Shengelia and Tyshawn Taylor will be renewing old acquaintances and Dominique Jones will be introducing himself.
Reed was honored after his put together a monster week where he averaged 20 points, 17.3 rebounds, 3.3 blocks and shot 69.2 percent. Jones, known as DoJo, officially signed with the Armor. After being cut by the Mavericks on March 9, Jones put his name in the D-League player pool, where the Armor claimed his rights.
Taylor and Shengelia, the Nos. 2 and 3 scorers in the D-League, drove the 150 miles to Springfield Monday and are unlikely to rejoin the Nets until the parent club returns in 13 days. The Armor play six games in that stretch, the first five at home. The first of the five games, vs. Erie, takes place Tuesday night.
