With his family on hand, Willie Reed had his second straight big game for Springfield as the Armor beat the Energy, 98-91. Reed, a Kansas City native, finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds, including seven offensive. He shot 8-of-14. Friday night, he had 18 and 8 in a loss to the Energy in Des Moines.
“He’s coming in and working hard, and tonight was a result of that, definitely,” Coach Bob MacKinnon said of Reed..
The win was the Armor's first in four games and followed a January when they won only three of 11 games. They're now 9-18.
In addition to Reed, three other Armor bigs played well, finishing with 17 each. James Mays, who added 15 boards; Carleton Scott and ex-Net Dennis Horner. Ben Uzoh added seven and nine, but shot 3-of-15. Over the last eight games, Reed is averaging 17 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks, while shooting better than 50 percent.
