In an interview with Bloomberg News' Betty Liu Bruce Ratner said that of all the things at Barclays Center, he is most proud of the arena staff.
"The No. 1 compliment I get about the arena is about the people who work there. They're friendly, helpful, and so on. I'm probably proudest of that among anything. Imagine 1,800 jobs created, all union jobs, I might add. we've done a great job in the job area."
Ratner said that the number of arena staff at Barclays will increase when the Islanders arrive in 2015. All staff at the arena are trained in hospitality by the Disney Institute.
In the interview, Ratner spoke mainly about the New York real estate market. He noted that construction on B2, the 32-story modular apartment building at the arena's southeast corner, has begun and that it should be above ground by May and complete by June 2014, meaning it will continue to rise throughout next season.
