Deadlines and Commitments - LXXXVIII

Call this the "getting closer" calendar. It's also a bit more comprehensive, including dates deep into the season as well as the dates of the big games vs. the Knicks and Celtics, the London game ... and who will televise each of them. Something to print out and post on the refrigerator.

October 30 - Nets tip off season on the road in Cleveland vs. Cavaliers. NBA TV will televise. Jason Kidd won't be coaching because of his two-day suspension for DUI.

November 1 - Nets host the Heat at Barclays Center to open their second season in Brooklyn. ESPN will televise. Kidd not available for this game either. No determination yet on who will coach the first two games.

November 1 - D-League Draft. Springfield Armor currently hold the #3 pick overall. It's a conference call from team offices. Talk about distraction.

November 22 - Springfield opens its season vs. Maine in Portland. Who will be on the roster? Mason Plumlee? Toko Shengelia? Tyshawn Taylor? Adonis Thomas?

December 5 - Nets host the Knicks in the first Battle of the Boroughs at the Barclays Center. TNT will televise. 

December 10 - Celtics come to Barclays Center. Return of Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks and Keith Bogans. Also good TV ratings for NESN, which broadcast Celtics games.

December 15 - Free agents signed in the off-season can now be traded. For the Nets, that means Andray Blatche, Shaun Livingston, Alan Anderson and Andrei Kirilenko.

December 25 - NBA celebrates Christmas with Bulls in Brooklyn, the second game of the day. ESPN will televise.

January 6 - 10-day Contracts can now be signed.

January 10 - All contracts are guaranteed for remainder of the season. All Nets current contracts are guaranteed.

January 16 - NBA Global Games London 2014 - Atlanta Hawks vs. Brooklyn Nets at The 02. NBA TV will television in the US and internationally.

January 20 - Knicks and Nets continue New York cross-town rivalry on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. ESPN will televise.

January 26 - Nets and Celtics play in Boston, the emotional return of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the city where they won a championship. ESPN will televise.

February 6 - 10th anniversary of NetsDaily, Nets at home vs. the Spurs. (We'll figure something out.)

February 14-16 - 2014 NBA All-Star Game, New Orleans, LA

February 20 - 2014 NBA Trade Deadline (3 p.m. ET)

April 19 - NBA Playoffs begin

May 20 - NBA draft lottery. (Not applicable)

June 5 - NBA Finals begin

June 26 - NBA draft. The Nets currently have no picks in either the first or second round.
