Jason Kidd: 'No timetable' yet for Deron Williams to 'start contact'

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Jason Kidd spoke with the Brooklyn Nets beat writers this morning on a conference call, and the major takeaway was that there really is no timetable for Deron Williams (ankle) to return to full contact drills.

It was already said that Williams would not play in the first two preseason games, which we know he missed Tuesday's game and he isn't expected to play on Saturday when the Nets open up at home against the Pistons.

Another interesting note, Kidd compared Andrei Kirilenko to LeBron James...without actually comparing him to LeBron James.

So, he's LeBron-like, but not quite LeBron. That makes sense and in no means is Kidd actually saying that AK-47 will have the same impact as LeBron. Other notes:

More news broke later in the day about Williams' ankle and about when he could possibly return.

Although this quote means no Williams Tuesday night against the Celtics, he may be available Monday night. If he is available for the Nets' following contest, a week from today, against the Heat, he would have a total of three games to get prepared for the regular season.

He obviously thinks he can play, posting this Instagram video late in the day with the hashtag #putmeincoach
