Mirza Teletovic finding a home in Brooklyn rotation

Rob Carr

It's not just that Mirza Teletovic is averaging 9.3 points and 3.7 rebounds since P.J. Carlesimo gave him his first real chance three games back ... or that he's shooting 52.3 percent overall (10-of-19) and 54.5 percent from 3 (6-of-11) over that stretch. It's not even that he has positive +/- of 17 over the three games or that his per 36 minute numbers derived from those three games come out to 23.4 and 9.3.

It's how he's playing the game, like how he sneaked past Spencer Hawes to score on a missed free throw Tuesday causing Doug Collins to shake his head on the Sixers bench, or how he essentially told DeMarcus Cousins "not in my house" ... twice. And as Tim Bontemps points out, Teletovic picked up five offensive rebounds in Saturday’s win over the Kings and three more in Tuesday’s victory in Philadelphia. Not to mention the emphatic tomahawk jam vs the Kings. (He did win a dunk contest in Spain, he wants you to know.)

The King of Bosnia, as he's called back home, now looks like he's part of Carlesimo's rotation which is deeper than his predecessor's ... and gives chances to players his predecessor didn't or wouldn't.

"Some days, Mirza has been the best player in practice," MarShon Brooks, himself an under utilized part of the bench until Carlesimo was elevated. "Believe me, Mirza can play.
