For Mirza Teletovic, a coming-out party headlined back home

Bosnia's leading sports site, Sport Sport Bosnia, was thrilled Saturday night. Its lead headline, as translated, read, "Mirza fantastic in the Nets' victory over Kings."

There were two sidebars as well extolling the "King of Bosnia," his local nickname. There was one on how P.J. Carlesimo was "pleased" with Teletovic's game, another with post-game quotes from Teletovic talking about how Carlesimo had told him he would get his chances. There were two videos as well, one of his offensive highlights and another featuring one of his two blocks on DeMarcus Cousins. By morning, a number of other Bosnian and European sites had done the same, adding the video of his first NBA dunk.

Over at MirzaTeletovic.com, his fans' unofficial (English language) site, the mood was similar. It led with the game summary and a screen shot of his dunk in the fourth quarter.

it was the 6'9" Teletovic's coming-out party. After 28 games where he was an after thought, he showed he belonged in the NBA, at least for one night, something his previous coach had doubts about.

His current coach raved about him in the post-game. It wasn't just his 14 points, including 2-of-5 from downtown, that P.J. Carlesimo appreciated.

"I'm as encouraged about the blocked shot and the rebounds," said P.J. carlesimo. "It's good to see (Mirza) make shots, but there's never been any doubt that he could make shots. He might've been going through a little adjustment, but we were never worried about 'Can he make shots?'"

Development of the team's younger players has always been a priority for the Nets' ownership. They believed they had a strong bench, but that it was predicated on developing Teletovic, MarShon Brooks, Tyshawn Taylor and Tornike Shengelia. Without that development, they wondered if the bench as a whole wouldn't live up to its potential. It was a priority after the coaching change.

Teletovic was diplomatic in his discussion of the differences between Carlesimo and Avery Johnson.

"P.J. was very straight up with me. He told me I know you haven't had a shot the last couple of months but I know what you're capable of. I just want you to have confidence once you get into the game. He told me that will try to get me into the rotation because he needs someone who can spread the court."

Asked if this was the kind of week he had waited for, Teletovic smiled and said, "I am a young guy. I have a lot of patience."
