MarShon Brooks and Mirza Teletovic got more minutes vs. the Magic than they have in the last few games and both produced in extended minutes. The two entered the game in the first half, Brooks with 01:49 in the first quarter and Teletovic with 05:57 left in the second.
Brooks finished with eight points on 4-of-8 shooting in 18 minutes of action. More importantly, Brooks had three steals, one that helped stem a Magic run in the third, and tossed a number of neat passes, only one of which resulted in an assist. On four other occasions, Brooks found an open man, but the shot didn't go down. Teletovic played 11 minutes, scoring five points, on 2-of-4 shooting, including 1-of-3 from downtown. At point, P. J. Carlesimo could be seen frustrated that the 6'9" Teletovic passed up an open three. He also had two turnovers.
Brooks, 24, and Teletovic, 27, played sparingly under Avery Johnson, who privately ripped their abilities. Both have played better in more minutes under Carlesimo.
