The Armor faced two of the D-League's top five teams late this week in a killer combo. They won both. After Toko Shengelia had the best game by any D-Leaguer this season (39 and 18) in Thursday night's win over Maine, he and Tyshawn Taylor combined for 50 points and 19 rebounds Saturday against Santa Cruz. Willie Reed, the Armor's 6'10" power forward, added 16 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks.
With 24 points and 13 rebounds, Shengelia is now averaging 28.3 points on 64.6 percent shooting, 13.7 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game in his three NBA D-League contests. Taylor is averaging 26.3 points on, 45.3 percent shooting, 6.3 assists and 6.7 assists.
The Armor held a big load most of the game but the Warriors tightened the game in the fourth. The Armor responded. Nets training camp invite James Mays ripped off eight of the final 10 Springfield points to help the Armor hold off the Warriors and capture their second straight victory.
