Tyshawn Taylor and Tornike Shengelia will be back in Springfield Thursday night to play their second game --first of this tour-- against the Maine Red Claws, the Celtics affiliate. D-League officials say the game will be the first of at least three the two will play for the Armor while the Nets are on the road. In fact, expect the two second-round picks to be on the Brooklyn-Springfield Shuttle the rest of the season.
Taylor, who had an Armor season high 32 points back in December, will start alongside ex-Net Ben Uzoh. Shengelia, who can play both forward spots will join with two training camp teammates, James Mays and Carleton Scott and the Armor's rising star, 6'10" Willie Reed. Shengelia had one of the D-League's three triple doubles this season in the one game he played in western Mass. He finished with 22 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.
While the Nets will be looking to see how the two develop, the Armor is hoping they can help their team some wins. Springfield is last in the East. The Red Claws feature Celtics pick Fab Melo and training camp invites Micah Downs and DaJuan Summers.
The game will be telecast in its entirety on the D-League YouTube Channel, starting at 7 p.m. ET.
