The Springfield Armor lost again Friday night, this time to traditional New England rival, the Maine Red Claws in Springfield when Celtic assignee Fab Melo put back a missed jumper with two seconds left. The final score was 102-100. The Armor are now 5-12.
The Armor got balanced scoring with James Mays, their 6'9" big man, leading them with 22 points and eight rebounds. Two ex-Nets played well. Ben Uzoh had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds while Dennis Horner, who joined the team last week, had 15. Horner, who was told to work on his three point shot, finished 3-of-4 from deep, bringing his shooting percentage from three up to 46.7. He had only two points after halftime. Willie Reed, who had a monster game at the D-League Showcase, had only nine points and five rebounds.
Leading the Red Claws was former Gonzaga forward Micah Downs and Shelvin Mack, both with 26.
