Everyone who's anyone knows by now that the Nets payroll of $83.5 million will be among the league's top three outlays and of their willingness to commit $335 million long-term, second most ever in an off-season. Stephen Coston of DIME writes that almost 90% of the Nets spending this summer was on starters and that the the rest was paid out, effectively, to their bench.
The rest, a bit more than $9 million, went to five players on vets minimum deals, of which the Nets pay $854,000 (the league pays the rest on vets minimum deals); two players on rookie minimums; and limited amounts on two free agents: Mirza Teletovic at $3.09 million and Reggie Evans at $1.52 million. That Coston calls, "the best $9 million the Brooklyn Nets ever spent."
