It's September 1, one month until the opening of training camp at PNY Center. Two months until Opening Night at Barclays Center. The Nets could have as many as 20 players in camp, the 13 players already under contract and a lot of hopefuls, most of them trying out for both the Nets and Springfield Armor. Some will no doubt be practicing informally in East Rutherford before camp opens.
In between, the Eurobasket Qualifying Round will get serious as the teams fight to qualify for the FIBA European championships next summer in Slovenia. The Nets will also unveil their uniforms at the end of this month but the big upcoming date this week will be the "substantial completion" of the Barclays Center, nine years after the first plans.

September 4 - City Buildings Department inspectors make what is expected to be the final walk-through of Barclays Center prior to granting a temporary certificate of occupancy (TCO).
September 5 - Expected completion date for Barclays Center. With the granting of a TCO, the Nets will take over the project from their contractors. Expect a couple of shakeout events in September.

September 11 - 17 - Basketball Without Borders, Russia. Marshon Brooks will represent the Nets at this first ever BWB event in Russia.
September 15 - Date Deron Williams would like his teammates to gather at PNY Center in East Rutherford for informal workouts.
September 22 - Open tryouts for the Springfield Armor at the PNY Center in East Rutherford. For $150, anyone can lace them up and hope they get an invite to Armor training camp.
September 28 (?) - Nets new uniform design to be unveiled, just prior to training camp. Also, like the Nets team identity, expect the design to be leaked.
September 28 - Opening Night, Barclays Center. Jay-Z will open the arena with a concert. You might see the uniforms as well.
October 1 - Nets training camp opens at Barclays Center with Media Day. It will be the Nets' first event of the 2012-13 season. The next day, once interviews and pictures (in their new uniforms and in their new locker room) are out of the way, the Nets return to PNY Center for their next-to-last training camp in New Jersey .
October 2 - First scheduled sporting event at Barclays, a preseason NHL game between the Islanders and Devils. However, the NHL labor talks have stalled making the game unlikely.
October 5 - Celtics vs. Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul, Turkey. Nets draft picks Bojan Bogdanovic (2011) and Ilkan Karaman (2012) play for Fener. NBA TV will broadcast the game.
October 13 - Nets open pre-season vs. 76ers at Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, 7:00 p.m. The first preseason game, first appearance for the Brooklyn Nets. Debut of the road (black) uniforms.
October 15 - Nets play first pre-season game at Barclays Center, vs. Wizards, 7:30 p.m. First game ever for the Brooklyn Nets in Brooklyn and the debut of the home (white) uniforms
October 16 - Nets play Celtics in a pre-season game at Boston's TD Garden, 7:30 p.m.
October 18 - Nets play Celtics in a pre-season game at Barclays Center, 8:00 p.m., The game will be broadcast on TNT
October 19 - Nets play 76ers in a pre-season game at Barclays Center, 7:30 p.m.
October 24 - Nets play Knicks in a pre-season game at Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, NY, 7:30 p.m. The first game of any kind between two New York-based NBA teams since February 20, 1977. That was also the last time two New York teams faced off in the home arena of the Nets last championship team, the ABA titlists of 1976.
