Tornike Shengelia is the youngest starter on the Georgian national team at 20. Nevertheless, he led the team to a 23-point win over Belarus in a "friendly" game in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, his hometown, Tuesday. It was the opening game of a tournament that also includes Ukraine and Estonia.
Shengelia went 7-for-12 overall, including 1-for-2 from three; shot 8-for-9 from the stripe; grabbed 8 rebounds; handed out 3 assists; stole the ball four times and blocked one shot. While Belarus is not a basketball power, many Georgian fans were noting that Shengelia is now team leader, taking over from Hawks center Zaza Pachulia.
