After Donte Greene Breaks Ankle, Nets Moving On In SF Search

Donte Greene suffered a broken ankle Saturday while working out in Charlotte, requiring that the 24-year-old undergo surgery. As a result, his training camp invitation is now on hold although his agent believes he could still play for the Nets later in the season.

Fred Kerber reports in the meantime the Nets will look elsewhere in hopes of signing a veteran SF. Kerber speculates that Josh Childress, the 6'9" forward amnestied by the Suns, and Sam Young, the 6'6" free agent forward who last played for the Sixers, may be possibilities. The Nets could also take another look at Damion James.

Marc J. Spears broke the news of Greene's injury Wednesday.
