If the latest analysis of Barclays Center construction progress holds true, the arena should be "substantially complete" a week from next Wednesday, Sept. 5. The analysis, provided arena bondholders, was published Friday but based on construction documents provided a month ago. Sept. 5 has long been targeted as the arena completion date.
Substantial completion means the arena can be granted a temporary certificate of occupancy permitting the owners to "use and occupy the arena."
Friday's report lists a number of items that are expected to be completed next week, including the visitors locker room, the set of scoreboards and LED displays, the practice court, the "Vault" bunker suites, the Nets family lounge, as well as a number of retail spaces off the entrance plaza, including the Nets team store. Workers were nearing completion of the "oculus" that will dominate the entrance plaza.
