The Nets have invited former King Donte Greene. a back-up small forward, to their training camp. Greene's contract is non-guaranteed, say league sources. Marc Spears had tweeted that the Nets had "agreed in principle" on a deal with Greene.
Greene confirmed the move via Instagram and Twitter.
The 24-year-old Greene is 6-foot-11 and has averaged 17 minutes and 6.1 points over four seasons with Sacramento, shooting just 41 percent from the field and 30 percent from 3-point range. His second season was his best, starting 50 games, averaging 8.5 points, and shooting 38 percent on threes. He was a fan favorite in Sacramento.
Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated tweets via Sulia that it appears the deal is a bit more than a simple invite. "The deal," he writes, "is a non-guaranteed camp invite that will become a one-year minimum deal if he survives until January. The Nets have high hopes for Greene and it sounds like he has a good shot at sticking around to back up Gerald Wallace."
