Brook Lopez is lighting up the Philippines, part of the NBA's goodwill trip to the Asian island nation. Lopez was interviewed on Philippine TV, visited the national book store in Manila (picking up books in Tagalog, the native language), and promised to down some Philippine spaghetti, recommended by his high school point guard. But mostly, he wanted to assure fans that he's healthy and ready.
Lopez, the Lady Cats, Charlotte's dance team, and the Magic's mascot, "Stuff",are in the Philippines to promote the NBA's 3x3 competition. He told Filipino fans "I'm doing great. My foot's well and I'm ready for the season to start already. I'm ready to go." Later, he explained, “I’m probably around 90-percent okay but I’m pretty sure I’ll be back in full shape entering the NBA season.”
He added, "I hope that Filipino fans tune in to watch Brooklyn Nets. We are going to have an exciting season. We don’t want any of you to miss out anything we'd love to have as many Filipino fans to support us because we are going to have one heck of a year."
