Ersan Ilyasova, the 25-year-old power forward the Nets targeted early in free agency, has decided to sign instead with the Bucks. He's agreed to a five-year, $45 million contract.
The contract is more than Milwaukee originally intended to give th 6'10" Ilyasova, a native of Tajikistan in Central Asia who is now a Turkish citizen.
The Nets had hoped to outbid the Bucks by doing a sign-and-trade for Ilyasova who at certain points in the process favored Brooklyn. Milwaukee resisted declining interest in what the Nets were offering, Kris Humphries and a draft pick. Humphries now becomes more likely to return to the Nets or be used in a sign-and-trade for Dwight Howard.
