The Nets announced their Summer League roster on Tuesday, and it includes #54 pick Tornike Shengelia.
At first, the Nets didn't have "Toko" in their Summer League plans, but he wanted to come over to prove himself. His agent noted the Nets had never worked him out so this would be a good time to take a look at him.
Should he succeed, Shengalia, a 6'10" SF who likens himself to a "taller Manu Ginobili", has a modest $300,000 buyout package. The Nets will already be paying a $550,000 fee to buyout Mirza Teletovic.
The Nets will play in the Orlando Summer League starting Monday, playing a game each day from July 9-13. Beforehand, they will practice at the PNY Center from Thursday through Sunday.
Also on the roster, as expected, are NBA vets Adam Morrison, Al Thornton and Julian Wright. They'll be joined by MarShon Brooks, No. 41 pick Tyshawn Taylor and Springfield Armor center Jeff Foote, among others. With so many vets minimum spots likely to be open on the final roster, summer league and training camp is likely to be more competitive than normal.
