Peter Vecsey tweeted late Saturday night that Nazr Mohammed has chosen to sign with the Bulls, rather than the Nets. The 34 year old center who played with the Thunder last season had visited with the Nets this weekend. The Bulls have an opening for a back-up center if they don't match Houston's offer sheet for Omer Asik.
Without Mohammed, the Nets' roster officially stands at 12, with Tornike Shengelia to make it 13 shortly. They've been in talks with Andrei Kirilenko, but also only have one true center (Brook Lopez) on the roster.
After Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld and others tweeted that no decision had been reached, Vecsey added, "A decision has been reached. Nets & Bulls were notified of such." Vecsey who on Saturday tweeted there was "zero" chance the Nets would sign Kirilenko "backed off" that position Sunday morning and now believes "Nets have frontcourt spot 4 Kirilenko, if not necessary money to entice him to BK."
Among the free agent centers still unsigned: Hamed Haddadi (who Vecsey suggested); Ronny Turiaf, Kyrylo Fesenko and Darko Milicic.
