A. Sherrod Blakely of Comcast Sports Net New England suggests that if the Nets take on Joe Johnson's contract, they may not be able to afford ...or find minutes for... Gerald Green. If so, he writes, be prepared for the Celtics to jump in and make a bid for the 6'8" swingman who electrified the Prudential Center on more than one occasion last season.
"With the New Jersey Nets in talks of a potential trade with the Atlanta Hawks for Joe Johnson, the domino effect might make its way all the way to Causeway Street," Blakely writes. "The addition of Johnson could make the Nets less likely to re-sign Gerald Green, which might then open the door for a potential return to Boston for the former Celtic."
Both the Celtics and Lakers both reportedly had interest in Green during the season.
