The New York Empire State Development Corp, Bruce Ratner's partner in the Barclays Center, reports that construction on the arena will go 24/7 starting Monday. There's no indication in the Friday announcement how long the round-the-clock operations will continue.
The arena is scheduled to be completed on September 5, a little more than 10 weeks from now. The three-shift work involves elevator system electrical work, as well as work on the facade and roof. Such 24/7 work is expensive, with overtime, double overtime, etc. It's not uncommon though for major projects to push hard at the end of the construction timetable.
